Cankles!

One of my all time favorite Saturday Night Live skits was from our last Presidential election where they did a parody of Sarah Palin and Hillery Clinton. In the skit, Hillery Clinton is asking people to stop saying that she has cankles. Ha ha ha. Well I can empathize, not that anyone has personally said it to me, but just that I have seen it with my own eyes as my once 5 1/2 sized petite feet have now expanded and shoes that were once too big are now too tight. If you have never seen this skit then here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdDqSvJ6aHc. And obviously I have a lot of sympathy for Steve right now because he has to listen to me complain about how bad my feet hurt these days. He said earlier that in some ways this baby will be a lot easier to take care of once it comes out of utero. Ha! I think he meant because he is tired of his baby mama's aches and pains. But that is what happens when you have gained 40 pounds that your body has never carried before. I once thought that I was going to be like one of those skinny girls that looks like she is just smuggling a basketball. Well things didn't work out that way for me. Whether it was all the donuts or mother nature, I feel like a bus. But Steve says that I'm not like a bus because a bus will take you where you want to go and I on the other hand would just stop and tell people to get off and get over it. :)
Here's a question for my fellow mothers. Why are the cashiers at Babies R Us so mean? Every time I leave that place I feel like a scolded child. I guess it may be because I have them ring up every single purchase I make in a separate transaction so that I can use a 20% off coupon on it. But if they are going to get so hot about it then why do they give us all these coupons and then expect us to just throw them out because you can only use one per item and per transaction. I don't think so! I'm in the business of saving money not wasting it, and eventually I think I will be able to change the system over there with just my annoying purchase habit. They probably have some kind of code name for customers like me.

I included a picture of my latest find at The Lovelady Thrift store which also happens to be my favorite find there of all time. Where else can you find a Church of the Highlands binder which happens to be free at the church but at the thrift store will cost you $0.45. I laughed so hard when I saw that. Also there are several other random things there like a used kiddie cup with lid from Moe's. I mean who donates their used cups from fast food restaurants? That's the kind of stuff that I would just throw out. But I do enjoy going on treasure hunts there especially since they play Kari Jobe a lot over the speakers and other christian artists.
Samuel's nursery is just about done. My cute glider and ottoman arrived last week and now we just need to decorate the walls, get a lamp and a few other small odds and ends. But it is perfectly functional in case he shows up before I have the other done. Of course my type A personality would prefer for everything to be perfect before he gets here but my body temperature gage says he can come whenever he's ready because man it's gettin hot in here. I went to our pool last night to try and cool off but the water was so luke warm that it felt like my bath water. Plus, me trying to slide into my prego tankinis isn't really working anymore. Even those are too small for me. And it seems that way with a lot of the clothes and accessories I have right now. Don't be shocked if you see me out and about in a moo moo. I'm pretty sure that is about the only thing that will fit me these days besides a tent. I'm 34 weeks now almost 35 I think. So I'm about ready for my little one to start making his descent toward the southern end of my body. He is still so active in there that you would think he was planning a party and was going to stay a while. Steve says he's just packing up boxes and stuff. I said what stuff? He doesn't have anything to pack in there. Steve said, "sure he does. His toys and books." Well something is certainly keeping him occupied in there.
I'm just excited to meet Samuel and see what he looks like. I'm planning to spend a lot of time just staring at him.

this was hilarious -- i was on hold with a court while reading it and laughed really loud at the bus part and what you would tell the people on the bus! i can hardly believe it's getting so close. that would be pretty awesome if he went ahead and brought a few supplies out w/him. a bit of a money saver there too. : ) stacie
